Prof. Grzegorz Sierpiński

Biography:

Associate professor at the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology (SUT). Head of Department of Transport Systems, Traffic Engineering and Logistics and Coordinator of Priority Research Area 4 at SUT: Smart Cities and Future Mobility. Author and co-author of more than 300 scientific papers and chapters of books. Scientific editor of several monographs. His professionals experience includes more than twenty contract works in the field of transportation. National manager of two projects under the ERANET program. In his scientific interests, he combines the problems of road traffic engineering (including traffic analysis and forecasting, modelling of transport systems and optimization of transport networks) with shaping travel behaviours in cities. Chairman of the Organizing and Scientific Committee of the 18th Scientific and Technical Conference "Transport Systems Theory and Practice" and member of Scientific and Program Committees of several other conferences. Member of the Transport Traffic Control Section for the 2020–2023 term of the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Road Transport Traffic Control Unit.

Prof. Mir Shabbar Ali

Dean, Professor of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture

Biography:

Prof. Dr. Mir Shabbar Ali is a distinguished Professor of Transportation Engineering and Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Petroleum Engineering at NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi. With a robust academic background, including a Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham (UK), an M.S. from the University of Oklahoma (USA), and a B.E. from NED University, he specializes in transportation planning, traffic demand modeling, and road safety. His pioneering PhD research focused on accessibility-based rural travel demand modeling in developing countries, emphasizing poverty alleviation and policy development. As a leader, he has spearheaded high-impact projects such as the HEC-funded AI-driven traffic congestion prediction initiative (PKR 2.57M) and the Pak-USAID ITS research collaboration (PKR 12M), while also serving on key governmental committees for road safety and infrastructure design in Sindh and Punjab. Dr. Ali has authored 32+ refereed papers, co-authored the book Travel Decision Economic Model (2010), and supervised 15+ MSc theses on topics ranging from GIS-based black spot analysis to pavement durability. His industry contributions include designing the innovative Schon Circle Interchange and advising on NED University’s campus road improvements (PKR 25M). Recognized as a Life Member of the Institution of Engineers Pakistan, he is a sought-after speaker and consultant, bridging academia and practical solutions for urban mobility challenges.
